Well I guess I will start off by saying I know how cheap/greedy my landlord is. My family and I were having a very hard time finding a place to rent, there was nothing around the town close to our work. We found the place we are living in now, and are very happy here. Even before we moved in my husband who is a system admin. fixed our landlors computer/printer problems quite a few times without charging him. We signed the lease, and questioned the landlord first about fixes in the household. There is a section that says anything under $250.00 that has to be fixed is our responsibility. WHen I asked him about this he said “it was so I don’t have to replace lightbulbs and such” of course after moving in there were many things wrong here, including plumbing problems etc. He himself fixed them, and charged us…even though we were upset that they were existing problems we paid it to keep the peace. Twice our circuit breaker blew. In our lease it states we do not have “use” of the garage that is attatched to this townhome. (the landlord has all his belongings stored in the garage, and has it locked where we have no access to it.) Our circuit breaker AND oil tank are located in the garage. We have had to call him to come here and flip the breaker back on for us. I was told that it is illegal that we do not have access to this. When I emailed him kindly asking if it was illegal …he flipped out and called my husbands phone saying verbatim “You better tell her to watch her tone, every month she turns around with new bullshit to bother me with If you are unhappy about this we will come to an agreement and you guys can move out and find another place to live”
All I was doing to my knowledge was asking a rightful question. He also emailed me saying “You knew you do not have access to the garage it says it in your lease, what is your problem”
This man acted like an animal. My husband and I never brought the issue up again to suck it up and keep peace with this psychopath.

Now he came to pick up this months rent, and approached my husband telling him he was moving all his belongings out soon and is going to rent the garage to someone (off craigslist). My husband told him he did not feel comfortable with strange people coming in and out of the garage (which is accesible to the house itself) and that he was upset he did not ask us if we were able to use it. Keep in mind we have the oil tank and circuit breaker in here as well. He said “Oh well then if you want you can rent it every month” He wants to charge us an extra 75 dollars a month to use the garage and put us in a position where we will be forced to pay this amount just to make sure some strange people won’t be bothering us whenever they want to use this garage as storage. I am rather upset with this and was hoping there is SOMETHING in the rule books that says he can’t do this. I also feel he may be bluffing just to get us to say okay, and he can get that extra 75 dollars a month from us. I am so upset, and feel this is such a horrible thing to do to your tenants.

Any answers I truly appreciate! I live in Montgomery County PA
I have a year lease. There was nothing in the lease about the garaage except “tenant does not have use of garage”
